Covid-19: The Science – an ALDES and Young Liberals panel discussion

On Tuesday, May 26 ALDES (the Association of Liberal Democrat Engineers and Scientists) and the Young Liberals held a virtual discussion on what coronavirus means for politics and society at large. Featuring:

– Lucy Nethsinga, leader of the Lib Dem Cambridgeshire County Council group
– Dr Kylie Belchamber, research Fellow in lung immune cell biology at the University of Birmingham
– Dr Simon Beard, academic programme manager at the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER, University of Cambridge
– Amy Gaskin, bioinformatician and pathogen genomic epidemiologist at Public Health Wales

Discussed were two recent briefing notes produced by ALDES groups relating to the COVID-19 pandemic: one on AI and data governance in tackling COVID, and one on the long-term public mental health impacts.
